Public charging
Last checked: 8 November 2026.
Australia has several charging networks, a couple of plug types at the AC end, and chargers that are sometimes out of action. Here's what to sort out before you need it.
2027 7X (MY27)
The updated 2027 7X (MY27) delivers from December 2026. Figures on this page are for the MY25/MY26 car unless marked. See Which 7X do I have?.
Before your first public charge
Carry a Type 2 cable
- DC fast chargers have the cable attached. Plug in and go.
- AC chargers at shopping centres, hotels and car parks often have only a socket, so you need your own Type 2 to Type 2 cable. Keep it in the car. Plugs and cables explains Type 2, CCS2 and tethered chargers.
Set up the apps at home
Don't wait until you're standing at a charger to create an account and add a card. Install:
- PlugShare for a map of chargers across networks, with recent check-ins from other drivers. If the last few check-ins say a unit is broken, believe them.
- The app for each network you're likely to use. Which networks are near you varies by state; see your state resource page.
- Tesla, if you plan to use Superchargers that are open to other EVs. The Tesla app shows which sites accept non-Tesla cars.
How fast your Zeekr can charge
| Model | Peak DC charging |
|---|---|
| 7X RWD | up to 450 kW1 |
| 7X Long Range and Performance AWD | up to 420 kW1 |
| X RWD (MY26) | up to 230 kW2 |
| X AWD (MY26) | up to 150 kW2 |
| 009 FWD | 150 kW3 |
The 7X uses an 800V system1, so it can make use of the fastest public chargers. Peak figures are what the car can accept under ideal conditions; a 350 kW charger can't deliver 450 kW, and the actual rate depends on the charger, battery temperature and state of charge. AC vs DC and the charging curve explains why times are quoted 10 to 80% and why you rarely see the peak.
Sources differ: 7X 10-80% times
Zeekr's own 7X page shows 13 minutes (RWD) and 16 minutes (Long Range, AWD) in one table and 11 minutes in another, and EV Central quotes "as little as 11 minutes"45. Expect roughly 10 to 16 minutes on a fast charger, depending on variant, battery temperature and the charger.
AC charging is much slower and depends on both the charger and your car's onboard charger (11 kW or 22 kW depending on model; see Home Charging).
Etiquette
Sharing chargers, moving on when you're done and the rules on EV bays are in Charging etiquette.
